Correction, 19 week program

Uh, I discovered that Boston is in 19 weeks not 18.  This means that I will adopt the Pftizinger 19 week program.  What is that?  Simply, it is the 18 week program with the first week repeated.  Pretty convenient, no?

There seem to be a lot more people out early in the morning.  I don’t know why this is because the mornings have been much colder; ranging from the high 20s to the low 30s.  Maybe everybody else is getting ready for Boston and they had the same math issues I did.

My run this morning was 11 miles – labeled as a medium long run by Pfitzinger, at a similar pace as the long runs.  I ran this one at a 138-142 HR and the pace went like this:

8:44, 8:07, 8:04, 8:04, 8:07, 8:03, 8:00, 8:09, 8:10, 8:30 (had to stop for 20 seconds at a light), 8:14.

I am very pleased with this.  I felt really good and the tight bunching of the splits at the same heart rate makes me think I am making some serious progress toward getting faster.  I felt like I could have done this pace without much of a heart rate increase for another bit.  My base seems to be getting stronger.   I would love to get some insight from others but it doesn’t look like anybody is reading my blog.  I guess I may have to ask people to read my drivel and hope they do.

Tomorrow is a recovery day with 5 miles at a very slow pace – noticeably slower than my other runs so I guess 8:30-9:00 pace.
